F.H. Paschen’s Project Managers and Project Engineers are essential members of our construction teams, using their strong analytical skills to help assess and direct projects and manage large teams.

Our Project Managers receive support and guidance from Paschen’s experienced and talented executive staff and are given opportunities to tackle a diverse set of real-world challenges in a wide variety of sectors and roles.

With extensive opportunities for personal development and career advancement through mentorship, support, and focused training, our Project Managers and Project Engineers build on their experience and gain training in a number of areas, including estimating, safety, quality control and assurance, scheduling (including P6 and pull planning), and value engineering.

F.H. Paschen’s tradespeople are highly valued members of our team and fundamental to the success of each project. Our teams of specialized, high-caliber construction tradespeople receive continuous on-the-job training that builds on their experience and skill sets.

For those looking to advance from Apprentice to Foreman positions and eventually Superintendent positions, we create an environment where mentorship and training, along with experience working in teams, not only increases confidence but also builds the kind of leadership skills necessary for taking on higher levels of responsibility.

As the leaders on site for all of F.H. Paschen’s projects, Superintendents work to transform clients’ visions into reality. Superintendents are responsible for leading a team, supervising operations, coordinating schedules, and trouble-shooting problems in the field.

The Superintendent Training Program gives Project Engineers and trade Foremen who are looking to advance the opportunity and technical skills they need to achieve their goals. The program is designed to offer support and mentorship as well as invaluable training in short-term scheduling, BlueBeam, surveying, plan-reading, safety and quality control and assurance.

F.H. Paschen is an authorized Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge partner. SkillBridge provides transitioning Service members (and their spouses) with the opportunity to develop additional skills and experience to facilitate their employment in the civilian sector upon transition from military service.

The DOD identified our Assistant Superintendent Training Program (ASTP) as an ideal training program for their SkillBridge members. F.H. Paschen will be attending job and career fairs around the country with the goal of hiring Service members to join our organization.

While it’s our intention to hire Superintendent candidates through the SkillBridge partnership, we will look to fill positions across our organization at the job and career fairs we attend.

Steve Percic

Following his graduation from Purdue University where he earned a degree in Construction Engineering and Management, Steve served as Project Engineer and Project Manager on several civil projects throughout Chicago. While working on those projects, Steve mastered a number of technical skills, like forecasting and schedule preparation, and was exposed to various aspects of the construction business, giving him the skills and experience needed to transition into a superintendent role. His first project as superintendent—the $27 million Western Avenue reconstruction/viaduct demolition—was completed on budget and one month ahead of schedule. Currently, he is overseeing the widening and reconstruction of I-294.

Maria Torres

Maria began her career with Paschen in 2010 at Gwendolyn Brooks as a Laborer Foreman. She has worked on a wide range of projects during her time with the company, including the 31ST Fire Station, Armitage and Cermak CTA Station projects, the Springfield Pump Station, and the Garfield Conservatory. Maria says that every project she’s been a part of has been a memorable experience for her, teaching her invaluable communication and team building skills. “Most importantly,” she says, “at FHP your hard work never goes unnoticed.” During her time with Paschen, Maria has gained a wealth of information and practical skills that she uses in her superintendent position, including safety awareness and oversight, quality control planning, coordinating work and staff, building and mechanical knowledge, and written and oral communication skills.

Anthony Spizzirri

Anthony started working with F.H. Paschen directly following his graduation from college in 2015, and was immediately sent out into the field to work on the Springfield Avenue Pumping Station Electrification project as a Project Engineer. He was promoted to Assistant Project Manager a year and a half later, taking on a more prominent role handling coordination with the owner and subcontractor. Anthony believes the hands on experience he gained on the project was crucial in shaping his career and leading him to the role of Assistant Superintendent on the Midway Passenger Security Checkpoint Expansion project. Anthony points to his ability to communicate effectively with the various people involved with a project as the most valuable skill he gained, though he also developed his organizational/management skills, and broadened his understanding of work scheduling, and of job budget/cost control issues.

Joe Sanders

Joe began his career with F.H. Paschen after earning an associates degree in construction management and working as a superintendent for another contractor. His first job was as a laborer before being offered the position of Assistant Superintendent in the Preferred Project Group. Joe credits his years in the trades with giving him the invaluable skills and experience he needed to advance in his career. He regularly draws on the extensive knowledge he gained about on-site safety issues, including how to maintain a safe working environment, and how to properly document work being done onsite. If there’s one thing that stands out to him, it was learning that “there isn’t only one way to do a project. You just have to work on finding the most efficient way of completing a job and to never be afraid of asking for help.
