This new 19,725 sf fire house achieved LEED Platinum Certification. was constructed based upon the current fire prototype ‘B’ design. Site work included surface parking for 34 vehicles, landscaped areas with native vegetation, and ornamental fencing. The public way was improved with new sidewalks, curbs, and landscaping. The building accommodates a staff of 28 people per each 24 hour shift.
The design includes the following spaces: apparatus bay with concrete service drive to house multiple emergency vehicles, full kitchen, dining area, male/female locker rooms and toilet facilities, sleeping quarters, officer’s quarters, physical training room, meeting room, storage area for HazMat response equipment, and EMS Field Division South offices. A 150 foot high communication monopole and radio room is located adjacent to the building. The building structural system is a combination of steel frame and masonry bearing walls on spread footings. The exterior walls are brick veneer, limestone, and insulated, low-E coated glazing. The mechanical system is a 26 well geo-thermal field and water to water heat pumps, natural gas emergency generator, and integrated building controls.

River Grove, IL
This Guaranteed Maximum Price contract with the Village of River Grove included the renovation of an existing warehouse space into a new public works facility inclusive to new offices, washrooms, locker rooms, mechanics garage, and interior storage and workshop facilities, in addition to all associated mechanical, plumbing and electrical upgrades.

This interior renovation was completed in ten (10) phases across three (3) floors at Sulzer Library in order to keep the building fully operational throughout construction. Work included new flooring and painting throughout the building, a new circulation desk around second floor atrium, three (3) new conference rooms, upgraded power and data, bathroom renovations at all seven (7) locations, a new building automation system, a new AV system in the auditorium, and children’s area upgrades. The entire library lighting system was also retrofit with upgraded LED fixtures.
