The majority of our laboratory work has been with universities as part of our JOC program. We have completed projects at Purdue University, Ohio State University, and the University of Illinois. The projects ranged in complexity from standard renovations to constructing complex control rooms and clean rooms.

John Hope College Prep
Chicago, Illinois

John Hope College Preparatory High School, located at 55th and Lowe, consisted of the total demolition and reconstruction of the school’s five science classrooms. The renovation of three science classrooms included providing all new student workstations with sinks and updated power and data capability in addition to receiving new plumbing, electrical, ventilation improvements, and eyewash stations. New casework storage areas were also added throughout the classrooms.

The other two science classrooms are considered chemistry labs. Along with the renovations stated above, the chemistry classrooms have natural gas capabilities for more complicated science procedures as well as special isolated fume hood experiment areas. One of the two chemistry science classrooms was a newly constructed Prototype Science Classroom that also includes individual student data centers.

Karen Landahl Center for Linguistics
Chicago, Illinois

This project consisted of building out 4,500 sf. of archive space in the basement of the Landahl Center into labs for sound and language studies. The work included the demolition of the entire space including all walls, ceilings, floors, and electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems follwed by the installation of floor, ceiling and wall systems, insulated windows, and all new MEP systems.

Wendell Phillips High School
Chicago, Illinois

F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen performed demolition and reconstruction of five science laboratory classrooms at Wendell Phillips High School. The demolition includes removing all existing tables, casework, shelving and flooring, along with all electrical, gas and plumbing feeds. The five classrooms were then rebuilt with new flooring underlayment, acid resistant flooring, and casework and shelving for teachers and students.
