On Wednesday, February 20, 2008, students, faculty, and staff of St. Michael Parish School in Wheaton gathered for the ribbon cutting of their new elevator. Father Don E. McLaughlin led the dedication ceremony and each class was able to visit the elevator and to say a brief prayer. Connor McHugh, a student of St. Michael Parish School, cut the ribbon for the new elevator. Larry Mix, FHPSNN’s Business Development Manager, was present along with the Mayor of Wheaton and other school officials.
The St. Michael Parish School elevator project was designed to allow access to the 3rd floor of the school for accessibility improvements, and consisted of converting an existing stairwell into a new elevator. After demolition of the stairwell, an elevator shaft was constructed and the existing vestibule was converted into a mechanical room.
